Biography

Evan Barquist is a general practice litigator. He represents clients in criminal and traffic defense matters, civil litigation, appellate work, and real estate litigation.

Evan grew up around the country and around the world. He left high school a year early to attend Bard College at Simon’s Rock, graduating in 2006. After a brief career in the movie industry, he ran away to attend law school. Evan graduated from New York Law School in 2010, where he was the Executive Editor of the Media Law and Policy journal. Evan moved to Vermont after graduation, where he clerked for the Chittenden County State’s Attorney's Office. Next Evan established a successful solo practice, which he maintained until joining Montroll, Oettinger & Barquist, P.C. in January 2018. More recently, Evan has successfully represented clients with their appeals, with two notable victories in front of the Vermont Supreme Court with his cases representing Joan Falco in Falcao vs. Richardson and Kerry-Ellen Rock in Kerry-Ellen Rock vs. James D. Rock. Evan and his family live in Colchester with three small children and a menagerie of pets.
