The Firm

Montroll, Backus & Oettinger, P.C., is happy to announce that Randy Amis has joined the firm as attorney of counsel, along with his assistant, Nancy Benson. We look forward to this fortunate collaboration with Randy and Nancy for years to come.

 

Mark Oettinger

Mark attended a Social Security Disability Seminar at the United States District Court on June 16, 2016, where the focus was on obtaining Social Security and Disability benefits for clients.

Mark traveled to Washington, D.C., on June 24, 2016, to represent a client in an administrative proceeding before the American Speech Language Association.

Mark also attended a Vermont International Trade Alliance Meeting on June 28, 2016. At this meeting, Alliance Members‒which include all branches of International Trade Service Providers in Vermont, both at local and federal levels‒provide updates and share resources.

 

Rob Backus

Rob attended the Office of the Defender General’s 2016 Green Mountain Juvenile and Criminal Defense Institute from June 1-3, 2016, at The Essex, Vermont’s Culinary Resort & Spa. The Institute is co-sponsored by the Vermont Court Improvement Program, the Children’s Justice Act, the Vermont Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Vermont Bar Association. Over the course of three days Rob attended seminars relating to aspects of juvenile and criminal law that he encounters frequently. For example, “Identifying and Treating Trauma and Disassociation in Children” and “Effective Strategies for Emergency and Temporary Care Hearings.”

Rob also helped a number of clients resolve pending criminal matters in Franklin and Chittenden County Courts.

 

Andy Montroll

On May 24th and 25th, 2016, Andy participated in a seminar in Burlington sponsored by the National Business Institute. Andy’s presentation was titled “Civil Trial: Everything You Need to Know.” He has been asked by the NBI to present again in December 2016 on Land Use and Zoning.
